The company in the wood processing industry continuously commissions transport service providers to have wood transported from the forest to the factories. The transport services are invoiced to the kilometre with the service providers via SAP. Determining the kilometres driven by the transport companies is a particular challenge, because the loading point is usually not located on public roads, but often in the forest. For this, the vehicles sometimes have to drive several kilometres on non-public roads that are only suitable for HGVs, which are not included in conventional routing solutions, but which still have to be accounted for.
Via a service API, the start and destination points are transferred from the SAP system and then the kilometres travelled are returned according to road category. A Localion Cloud was provided for the customer. A special navigation map for the timber industry ensures correct routing. This navigation map is also used thousands of times in the Localion Navigator for the forestry and timber industry, which is why there is a high level of acceptance of the solution among the transport companies.
The system was installed, tested and provided to the client by Localion. The service is accessed via a service API.
